Day 63 & Quotes
A less successful 24 hour period, 4 unwanted emails awaited me this morning and no interesting ones. I have nuked the one that I perceive to be the least useful.
I am aware that with only emails and social media to target for a fortnight these updates may get a little repetitive, so I thought I’d include a simplification quote of the day as well. Here is today’s offering:
The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak. ~Hans Hofmann, Introduction to the Bootstrap, 1993
For me, this quote is what the subtraction element of simplification is all about. To create more time and energy to focus on what is most important. One activity that I value greatly but have struggled to find time to pursue is reading. I often have about 4 started books on the go and take a while to finish them. I’m getting plenty of time to read on holiday, have finished all but one, and am enjoying spending time with that one. This is something I want to continue when I get back to normal life, and so will spend some of the time created by simplifying/subtracting to do so.
